Makaronia me kima (spaghetti with minced meat)

This is not exactly spaghetti bolognaise, but it's a meal my kids love to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner 3 days in a row! 😄 I kinda invented it when I was a teen, and it evolved with the years.



Ingredients:

  • 800g minced chicken
  • 210g tomato juice or paste
  • 5 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 50 ml soy sauce
  • 50 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • 220 ml BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 250g spaghetti

Directions:

  1. In a deep pan or large sauce pan, saute the minced chicken in olive oil until cooked (around 10 minutes).
  2. Add the lemon juice and keep stirring for 1-2 more minutes.
  3. Add the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, BBQ sauce and tomato paste one by one and keep stirring. Lower to medium-high heat.
  4. Keep cooking while stirring occasionally until the sauce is absorbed by the meat (around 30 minutes). Turn off the heat when ready.
  5. While you are cooking the sauce, fill a large pot with water, and add salt and 1-2 drops of olive oil. 
  6. Bring to a boil and add the pasta.
  7. Cook for 8-10 minutes in low heat until al-dente. 
  8. Drain the spaghetti and serve immediately. Pour the mince chicken on top of it.
